Description
Mackenzie Park, like many Texan parks, is unusually good for birding and wildlife watching. However, it is unusually . . . unusually good. Prairie Dog Town is that precisely, a prairie dog town in the middle of a park, one of the few such still remaining in the US. And after taking a peek at the town, head on to Yellow House Canyon, also within the park. This is the site of the final Lubbock battle between Native Americans and buffalo hunters in 1877.
