Native Americans, pioneers and cowboys may have shaped the course of a young Oklahoma City but these days this oil-rich center has come into its own for other reasons, though never forgetting its old-west culture.
This double track route follows the Kimberly/Big John Flat Scenic Backway from Hwy. 153 to I-70 at Fremont Indian State Park. A good portion is above the timberline with good views out over the range. Over the first 6 miles, the route climbs 3,000' first through pine and aspen then open meadows. (You could turn around here for a 12 mile out/back.) The route continues along the ridgeline with a long descent of 5,100'. At mile 13 the route joins Kimberly Rd (FS Route 113).
