Description

Fort Worth is still a bastion, or perhaps a memorial, for the Old West. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid walked these streets. Although the old, rotten Hell’s Half Acre of the 1800s long gone, it seems only appropriate for Fort Worth’s entertainment center to be Sundance Square, in honor of the famous bank robber. Mind, rough Sundance Square certainly isn’t, despite its name. It’s a beautifully landscaped and brick-paved 16 blocks of movie theaters, live theaters, galleries, museums, and nightclubs. The Square’s gem is truly the Bass Performance Hall, an opera house built along a European style that’s home to the city’s opera, ballet, symphony orchestra, and far more. The Fort Worth Water Gardens, with their three rather unique pools, are also downtown, as are the massive Fort Worth Convention Center and the historical Tarrant County Courthouse.

Attractions

Tarrant County Courthouse....

Three pools, sunk well below the level of asphalt and concrete by a terraced knoll, make up these gardens....

Bass Performance Hall is a world-acclaimed opera house and the sweeping, high vaulted interior would only confirm its sophistication and acoustics....
