High, cloud-tossed skies and a seemingly endless sea of sage-colored foliage sweep off to the far horizon at Black Kettle National Grasslands, a protected, lake-dotted region popular with outdoors enthusiasts, wandering cattle and photographers.
Buddy Holly was one of the most memorable voices of the 1950s and his death sent ripples throughout the nation. Lubbock was his hometown and the Buddy Holly Center collects such artifacts as his famous glasses and a number of his guitars. Other galleries, free, feature fine art and celebrate other Texas musicians.
