Native Americans, pioneers and cowboys may have shaped the course of a young Oklahoma City but these days this oil-rich center has come into its own for other reasons, though never forgetting its old-west culture.
This is one of those museums that’s in a state of constant expansion and has been from its beginnings. And it began as Amon G. Carter’s personal collection of works by Charles M. Russell and Frederic Remington. The museum would expand to cover many artists on many frontiers” of American art, and Georgia O’ Keefe, Charles Demuth, and Stuart Davis would become among the many artists to be displayed. Amon Carter also hosts an excellent photography collection.
