Native Americans, pioneers and cowboys may have shaped the course of a young Oklahoma City but these days this oil-rich center has come into its own for other reasons, though never forgetting its old-west culture.
From early spring to late fall, you can take a driving tour through the Woolaroc preserve, stopping at a reconstructed Trader's Camp for a breath of fresh air and a look at what living as a mountain man was like. The museum itself has historical exhibits, but also an absolutely immense collection of western art.
