Construction of Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery (NFH) began in 1928, and was in full production by 1931. The land was acquired from Indian heirs totaling 312 acres. This 235-acre hatchery lies adjacent to Pennington Creek in south central Oklahoma. Its basic mission is to produce warmwater fish, such as channel catfish and smallmouth bass, for distribution to Federal waters throughout the western United States.
